This adventure takes you deep into the Mae Taeng forest, located in the upper north of Chiang Mai. We start the day at 8:30 a.m., leaving from your hotel for a scenic 50 minute drive to Mae Taeng District. From here, we begin a 45 minute trek along an easy forest trail surrounded by lush nature. We start the trip at 8:30 a.m. from your hotel and drive about 1 hours northeast of Chiang Mai to Bua Thong Waterfall (also known as the Sticky Waterfall). This special waterfall has a unique limestone surface that allows you to climb directly up the rocks with your bare feet and hands. At the lower level, you can relax by a small pond and enjoy the beautiful view.
After enjoying the waterfall, we continue by bicycle to Sri Lanna National Park, a ride of about 2–2.5 hours. Along the way, we stop at Bua Thong Cave, where you’ll climb 200 Naga serpent stairs to reach the entrance. Inside, you’ll be amazed by the cave’s graceful rock formations and the serene Buddha statues.
From there, we cycle onward to Mae Ngad Dam, where we take a long-tail boat across the reservoir to one of the many floating restaurants. Inside Chiang Dao Cave, you’ll discover stunning stalactites and stalagmites, along with exquisite Burmese-style Buddha statues carved into the rock. The cave has long been a sacred place for local Buddhists and is known as a popular meditation retreat. Within, you will see the revered statue of a Buddhist monk in meditation posture as well as a sacred reclining Burmese Buddha image.
To explore the cave safely, we will be accompanied by an expert local guide from the village, who takes pride in sharing the cave’s history, legends, and hidden details.
After lunch, we continue to a beautiful modern temple(Wat Baanden), unlike the traditional temples of northern Thailand. Its architecture is striking, with a large wooden hall and unique design elements. Inside, you’ll find Chiang Mai’s largest reclining Buddha image, a truly remarkable sight.
